VETA: short interval control for load and haul.

The shift gap against plan every five minutes, the likely cause and an action with an owner. Planning stays with the site: VETA takes it as input.

How it looks today

The shift learns about the gap once it is over.

A shovel that runs out of trucks at ten shows up in the eight o'clock evening report. By then, the lost tonnes cannot be recovered.

  • The twelve-hour report explains the shift; it does not correct it.
  • What was decided over the radio is not recorded with its cause.

  • Every five minutes: alert at 10:20.

How it works

A closed loop that runs every five minutes.

Measure, prioritize, act and verify. The next interval measures the effect of the previous action.

The platform

This is what VETA looks like.

Four views of the real platform. The numbers are simulated: VETA is not running at a mine site yet.

What the shift supervisor sees

It does not say “out of range.” It says what is happening and what to do.

Each alert brings the likely cause, the end-of-shift effect if nothing changes and an action with an owner. The AI drafts it with its source; the shift supervisor decides.

  • One alert per interval, the one with the biggest effect: not a list of a hundred.
  • Approving or correcting is recorded with name and time.
  • The next interval confirms whether the action worked.

Where it runs

VETA is installed on the engine. The site keeps storing with no link.

The engine is installed once per organization; each site gets a lightweight Edge. VETA reads the site facts from the engine and duplicates no process.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is short interval control?
It means checking the operation against plan in short intervals (every five minutes in VETA) instead of waiting for the shift report. Each interval measures the gap, prioritizes one action, and the next one verifies whether it worked. It is known as Short Interval Control (SIC).
Is VETA in production?
No. VETA is a demo with simulated data. A pilot starts by connecting it to a mine site's real data: shift plan, equipment states, dispatch and GPS.
Does it replace the dispatch system or mine planning?
No. Planning stays with the site and dispatch keeps assigning. VETA takes the plan as input, measures the gap and proposes what to address first.
What data does it need?
The shift plan, the shovel and truck states dispatch already records, and the fleet position (GPS or OBD2). Scales or per-truck tonnage improve the measurement.
Does the AI give orders to operators?
No. The AI drafts the alert with the likely cause, the effect and an action with an owner, and cites the source. The shift supervisor approves or corrects it; who and when is recorded.
Where is it installed?
VETA is installed on the organization's iGromi engine, which can run on the company's own servers or in the cloud. Each site has its lightweight Edge, which keeps storing if the link drops.
