From Arduino to Industrial PLC: How to Scale Prototypes to Real Production
Blinking an Arduino is easy. Keeping it running 24/7 in a foundry is another story. Discover the critical path from prototype to industrial cabinet.

🐢 The Prototype Is Fast, the PLC Is Resilient #
Arduino is great for validating ideas in 48 hours. But once electrical noise, industrial humidity and the need for CE/UL certifications come in, you need to make the jump.
When should you leave Arduino behind? #
If your project requires:
- 24 V DC inputs/outputs (the industrial standard).
- DIN rail mounting.
- Immunity to voltage transients and drive noise.
- Standard programming languages (Ladder, ST) that any plant technician understands.
Then you are already past the prototyping stage.
"Don't change your code, change your hardware."
There are Arduino-compatible industrial PLCs that let you keep using your libraries inside a protected, industrial-grade enclosure.
Next Steps: The Jump to IIoT #
Once you have rugged hardware, the next challenge is connectivity. This is where protocols like MQTT come in.
