What does an Edge Computing Node do? #
An Edge Computing server (like iGromi Edge) is installed physically next to your PLCs. Instead of transmitting 1,000 data points per second to your central database, the Edge mathematically analyzes that data in real-time using local algorithms.
- Noise Filtering: If the oven temperature is 200°C for 5 hours straight, the Edge doesn't send the same number to the network a million times. It only alerts when there is an anomaly or a significant change.
- Local Translation: It converts heavy machine protocols (like Modbus RS485 or Siemens S7) into super-light, encrypted packets (MQTT JSON).
