iGromi OS vs Litmus Edge: The Hidden Cost of Cloud AI
Litmus presents itself as an edge platform, but is it mostly a pipe to Snowflake or AWS? How it compares with iGromi's local AI on the plant floor.

Edge Data Platform vs Genuine Edge AI #
Litmus Edge is known for collecting machine-level data and sending it to IT systems. Its value proposition, however, often works as a "high-speed pipe" to the cloud (Azure, AWS or Snowflake). The heavy artificial intelligence processing tends to be pushed out to third-party servers.
The business problem with that approach is that it becomes a trap of unpredictable variable costs. As you add sensors across the plant, the gigabytes transferred and the number of queries processed in the cloud push your monthly bill up exponentially.
Local Intelligence in iGromi OS #
While other platforms push you toward cloud AI services, iGromi OS includes built-in, Local-First artificial intelligence.
- On-site processing: The iGromi Edge AI server is an edge server with a 16 GB NVIDIA GPU for local inference: it runs YOLOv8 for machine vision right in the plant. When you talk to your data through an LLM, the plant's context stays in the iGromi engine, and the AI model only receives the question and the snippet it needs to answer it.
- Cost that doesn't grow with data volume: Analyzing 1 million or 100 million data points a day doesn't change what you pay iGromi, because the processing happens on hardware installed in your plant, not in a metered cloud. That takes the guesswork out of budgeting your data infrastructure.
⚡ Privacy on the Plant Floor
If you use cameras to inspect product quality, sending that video to outside servers means giving away your industrial secrets. By running the algorithms locally with iGromi, you reduce the exposure of your images.
