Energy Monitoring (Modbus Analyzers)

Why measure energy per machine

The aggregate consumption from the plant meter says nothing about which line or motor is actually wasting energy. Fitting a power analyzer per machine lets you calculate the real energy cost of each production cycle and detect mechanical degradation (bearings, phase imbalance) before a failure.

Recommended hardware

iGromi OS works with standard off-the-shelf Modbus RTU/TCP power analyzers (Schneider PM5000/iEM3000, Siemens PAC3200, Circutor CVM). No proprietary model is required.

Step 1: Electrical installation of the analyzer

  1. The analyzer must be installed downstream of the main breaker of the machine or line being monitored.
  2. Clamp the current transformers (CTs) around each phase, respecting the direction (P1 towards the supply, P2 towards the load) — reversing them yields negative power readings.
  3. Wire the RS485 bus (A/B) from the analyzer to the iGromi Bridge, or connect it over Ethernet if the model supports Modbus TCP.

Step 2: Configuration in iGromi OS

  1. Go to Data Sources > Add Modbus Device.
  2. Pick the manufacturer template (if your model is not listed, registers can be mapped manually).
  3. iGromi OS automatically reads: active power (kW), accumulated energy (kWh), power factor and current per phase.
  4. Link the kWh tag to the corresponding machine in the asset tree so the energy cost appears next to that line's OEE.

Result

With energy and production in the same Unified Namespace, iGromi OS can automatically compute kWh per unit produced — the indicator that actually matters when comparing shifts and spotting inefficiency.
